Job Description & Requirements

 JOB FUNCTION: 


Create 2D & 3D models as required for projects. From these the Lead Designer will create drawing packages and/or instruct other designers in creating the drawing packages for him/her. When work is delegated to other designers by the Lead Designer, the Lead Designer must still keep ownership and responsibility of the project and of the final product produced by others.  The Lead Designer will also be responsible for overseeing the work that other designers are doing for them and will markup drawings as necessary for other Designers or Engineers as required. 


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Overseas in the design and layout of oil and gas related facilities for the assigned discipline.
  • Overseas the design development activities including preliminary schematics, customer specifications and interpretation and implementation of customer specifications and documentation requirements.
  • Provides support for Senior Engineers.
  • Assists in engineering studies.
  • May assign work to technical drafting/design staff.
  • Working skill with Microsoft Office
  • Create/modify 2D/3D models for use in creating the drawing packages.
  • Modify drawings of the assigned discipline based on engineering or customer changes.
  • Ability to lead or participate in 3D model reviews to identify design clashes or optimized multi-discipline design.
  • Look for continuous improvements for product and information flow.
  • Mentor and train all other drafting/design levels as required.
  • Lead Designer will be required to carry multiple projects and must be organized as well as communicate well with other disciplines.
  • Lead Designer will also be responsible for checking of drawings whenever necessary.
     

QUALIFICATIONS


Required:  Minimum 5-7 years in a Design Lead Role or Managing Design Role


  • Trained & experienced on the latest version of AutoCAD/CADWorx/ Autodesk Plant 3D/CAD Administrator
  • Performs tasks/projects of a limited scope under limited supervision; demonstrates ability to work independently.
  • Interacts with project teams.
  • Knows the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field of specialization
